Photo Walk: Halifax Central Library on a Snowy Day

Modern architecture that works!
A family friendly place
Loved the reflections in the glass

This is going to be a fantastic place to sit and watch the world go by…if summer gets here.

The reading room at ground level invites you inside
The building feels a bit like a spaceship at times

On the top floor especially, the space is open and bright

Despite the openness, there are plenty of quiet spots to sit and read
With terrific views of the city and harbour
Pavia Expresso Bar has digs on the top floor and at street level

If you're ever in Halifax, be sure to check it out!

  1. It wasn't open when we were in Halifax, but we walked past it many times. The condo we were staying in was in the converted church a block away across the empty lot. It looks as nice on the inside as it does on the outside. And only a couple blocks from The Paper Chase, a great little coffee shop!

    1. You'll have to plan on spending some serious time there the next time you visit. It really is lovely. Very bright and open but with enough quiet space to feel really mellow and subdued. The numbers of people using the space is nearly double what was expected so it's a huge success so far. It's just a few blocks from my office so I plan to spend more lunch hours there once the weather warms up a bit. I think there's a patio on the top floor off the coffee shop, which will be irresistible in summer.
